AT&T Williams F1

Thursday 4th: Kazuki heads from the UK to Spa-Francorchamps for the Belgian Grand Prix, while Nico does the reverse. He goes to Silverstone to carry out a 50km aerodynamic test session for AT&T Williams, prior to flying with Sam Michael and Frank Williams directly to Spa.

Friday 5th – Sunday 7th: the Belgian Grand Prix weekend. Nico qualifies in 15th position and races to 12th in the dry-wet race; Kazuki qualifies 19th and comes home 14th.

Sunday 7th: both drivers return to their respective homes, but they have little chance to relax. Immediately they begin their preparations for the following weekend’s Italian Grand Prix.

Wednesday 10th: the drivers arrive in Monza. Nico is scheduled to compete in a football match with the contestants of Italian Big Brother, but is forced to pull out at the 11th hour due to injury.

Thursday 11th: Nico and Kazuki pay a visit to the GP2 paddock to led support to the Gonzalo Rodriguez Foundation. They sign a painting by American artist Bill Anderson and both donate a pair of signed driving gloves for the charity’s auction. In the evening they head to Red Bull Racing’s Energy Station to look at a photographic exhibition of David Coulthard’s Formula One career.

Friday 12th: both drivers are forced to bail out of the opening practice session when 54mm of rain fall in two hours. They end the day in fifth (Nico) and 16th (Kazuki) positions.

Saturday 13th: Nico qualifies fifth and Kazuki 16th. Being the last European race of the season, Nico then takes his mechanics out to dinner in the nearby El Cordobes restaurant.

Sunday 14th: the wet-dry race proves to be a missed opportunity for Nico, who runs in fifth place – the first of the one-stop drivers – during the early part of the race. A potential podium finish is lost when he has to make an extra pitstop for intermediate tyres during the closing stages. He comes home 14th place, two places behind Kazuki.

Monday 15th: Nico drives to Venice, where he’s taking part in a poker competition against several F1 drivers, including Robert Kubica and Giancarlo Fisichella. Nico cleans up.

Wednesday 17th: Nico is at Jerez for one day of testing. He ends the day having set a best time of 1:22.806s after experiencing AT&T Williams’ KERS system for the first time.

Thursday 18th: Kazuki takes over driving duties at Jerez in the FW30B. He sets a best time of 1:21.892s.

Friday 19th: Kazuki concludes the test session for AT&T Williams. He is the only driver to test a 2009-spec rear wing.

Monday 22nd: Nico and Kazuki fly to Singapore.

Tuesday 23rd: The drivers arrive in the city-state in the evening and a long night awaits them. They have endeavoured to remain on European time for the weekend and don’t plan to sleep until 0500.

Wednesday 24th: A busy day of PR for both drivers. Nico attends a Lenovo event, while Kazuki finds himself rowing on a Chinese Dragon Boat for RBS, all the while Sir Jackie Stewart plays the drums…!

Friday 26th: the opening day of practice for Formula One’s first ever night race. The drivers are immediately pleased with the performance of the FW30 through Singapore’s streets and set the fifth (Nico) and ninth (Kazuki) best times.

Saturday 27th: sleeping patterns are affected by an audience with Singapore’s president, Sellapan Rama Nathan, at lunchtime, forcing the drivers to set their alarms two hours earlier than normal. On-track, yesterday’s promise continues when both drivers qualify inside the top 10 for the first time this year. Nico will start the inaugural Singapore Grand Prix from ninth and Kazuki from 10th.

Sunday 28th: Nico comes home second, scoring his best F1 finish, while Kazuki rounds off a great day for AT&T Williams by coming home in eighth place. Kazuki heads to the airport immediately after the race to catch a 0100 flight home to Nagoya, while Nico celebrates with the team in the Amber Lounge.

Monday 29th: Nico boards a flight to Bali, where he’s meeting his girlfriend Vivian for a short holiday ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix.
