Silverstone Test Summary
26 June 08
The AT&T Williams team concluded their pre-British Grand Prix test at the Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire today. Running over three days at their home track, the team spent the sessions setting up the FW30s and running though mechanical and aero options in time for next weekend.
Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima shared testing duties, with Nico covering days one and two, and Kazuki undertaking the last day of track activity.
Today, Kazuki Nakajima set the 6th fastest time of the day with a 1:21.059 on lap 29 out of a total of 70. Over the three days, the team covered a total of 1,192.829kms of the 5.141km track.
Sam Michael, Technical Director:
“This week at Silverstone we worked on different mechanical and aerodynamic set-ups, initially with Nico and then with Kazuki. Although it was quite windy, the weather was generally good over the three days. We managed to cover the majority of our test programme in preparation for the Grand Prix here.”
Nico Rosberg:
“It was a very important test for us after our experience at Magny-Cours. We put a great deal of effort into understanding what happened in France, and ran through quite an extensive test programme over the three days. We managed to work through a lot of items and have come away with a good understanding of some crucial elements which will help us going into the short and medium terms. Overall, it was a very useful test. Looking forward to the race at Silverstone, it’ll be very tight as usual because the top six places are always taken, but we will go out there and do our best.”
